There are 26 Premier League games left — two before the World Cup break — and Liverpool will need to gather a further 54 points if they are to reach that figure. Of course, that sum isn't guaranteed to be enough, for it will depend on the efforts of Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United, but history suggests it should be.
The financial stakes are high. There won't be a major diff 世界杯足球 erence in Premier League earnings — Liverpool still stand to be one of the division's top earners from broadcast payments as ever and each position is only worth around £2.2m on average (via The Mirror) — but Champions League qualification is crucial.
Liverpool, however, can't afford to be arrogant. There must still be a huge upturn in results and, first of all, performances.

Reaching the Champions League group stage alone is worth €15.64m (£13.42m): more than you receive for reaching the final of the Europa League (€15m/£12.87m) or Europa Conference League (€8.9m/£7.64m).
Instead, they'll need to only be a little bit better than they were back in 2017/18, when they landed on 1.97 after recovering from a difficult start.
Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group will understand the significant consequences of missing out on Europe's premier club competition, and that might just prompt them to invest in January.

This season's total Champions League prize pot, for instance, stands at €2bn (£1.7bn), dwarfing the Europa League (€465m/£399m) and the Europa Conference League (€235m/£202m).
There's still confidence that, after the World Cup break, the Reds will surely get their act together and, just like the 世界杯直播 y did in 2020/21, put together the run of form required to make it into the top four.

That's because there's a mighty gulf between the funds available in the Champions League and the Europa League and Conference League (as per The Sporting News).
It's typically assumed that you need around 70 points to finish in the top four, but is that assumption grounded in reality? Well, last season, Spurs amassed 71 points as they pipped Arsenal to the final Champions League place, while Chelsea managed it with 67 in 2020/21 and 66 the year before. Tottenham recorded 71 in 18/19, but Liverpool were pushed all the way to 75 in Jürgen Klopp's second full season in charge. Average those figures out, and sure enough, it comes to exactly 70.
Hitting 70 from here will require an average of 2.07 points per game, an increase of 55.6 per cent on Liverpool's current average of just 1.33. That doesn't sound particularly daunting when you consider that Liverpool recorded 2.42 ppg last season, 2.6 in 2019/20 and 2.58 in 2018/19. They won't need to remotely match the levels of those sides.
It's not as if the Reds have been unlucky, and that things will even themselves out in the second half of the season. Their underlying numbers paint a grim picture, with Klopp's side averaging 1.43 expected goals against per 90 minutes — the sixth worst defensive record in the Premier League. Their expected goal difference per 90, meanwhil 世界杯篮球 e, stands at just +0.3, ranking them seventh.
Right now, though, they're set to miss out by a sizeable margin. With four wins, four draws, four defeats and 16 points from their opening 12 matches, they're on track to pick up just 51 points by the season's end.
Even as Liverpool struggle desperately, falling to ninth place in the Premier League after Saturday's defeat against Leeds United, many supporters probably still expect the season to be salvaged.
