Prior to joining BAM, Hendrawan, who served PBSI from 2004 to 2009, was best known for guiding Maria Kristin Yulianti to women's singles bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Following Chong Wei's retirement in 2019, Hendrawan found himself being linked to a return to PBSI.
"I have always had discussions and exchanged views regularly with PBSI, whichever way I can help," he added.

"Desire is always there and there had also been talks (about rejoining PBSI), but it's not easy when it comes to decision-making," Hendrawan told the Indonesian media at the Bright Up Cup invitational tournament in Jakarta today.
While it looks certain for now that Hendrawan will commit at 世界杯体育直播 least until the end of the Paris 2024 Olympics cycle, it remains anybody's guess if the Sydney 2000 Olympics silver medallist will extend his stint here beyond 15 years.
The 50-year-old former world champion is one of the longest-serving coaches in the BA of Malaysia (BAM) coaching set-up since moving from PBSI in July 2009.
Under Hendrawan's tutelage, Chong Wei went on to claim not only a third silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics, he also clawed his way back to the world No 1 世界杯足球 spot in June 2016 — in just a short span of 13 months after starting from scratch.
Hendrawan has enjoyed quite a successful stint, notably his role in getting Lee Chong Wei back on his feet after returning from an eight-month doping suspension in May 2015.
Hendrawan also revealed that he has always been in frequent communication with his compatriots in PBSI.
"It's not because I don't love the country, just that it hasn't come to that point yet. But I have always wanted to return."

It's an open secret that PBSI have been a keen admirer of Hendrawan's coaching ability and had made numerous attempts to bring him back.
